A story about Michael Moore
Years ago, at a screening of The Big One in Seattle, he singled me out of the audience for ridicule. I mean, it could have been worse only if he was laughing and pointing at me.
But I still like the guy.

All right, it is a wee bit of a stretch to say that I met her. But my girlfriend (wife as of Aug. 2007) and I stumbled upon Olivia’s booth at Comic-Con this year, whereupon my girlfriend struck up a conversation with her and asked if she could get a photo with her. Olivia agreed, and I took the picture. Olivia complimented her on her nice hair and her looks, so she was on cloud nine the rest of the day.
He’s going to be at Comic-Con this year, and so am I. There’s going to be a panel discussion of Snakes On a Plane! OMFG!
I used to volunteer at the Evergreen Radio Reading Service when she was running the show during the Seattle Times readings. She and my co-reader Scott would have many entertaining conversations about movies, and I would try to engage myself in the discussion as best I could. She was really swell and had a great sense of humor.
I’m hoping that, by the time my girlfriend and I have our wedding, Mr. Cheese will still be available for private functions (and that we’ll be able to afford the tab!).
He may do big-budget flicks like Ocean’s Eleven or Erin Brockovich, but then he does weird little films like Schizopolis or Bubble that are hard for the masses to appreciate. He doesn’t take himself too seriously and he utterly eschews the notion of possessory credits, so you will never see the words “A Steven Soderbergh Film” on the movies he makes. He strikes me as an artist with a real love for his medium.
More than just about anything else, I look forward to the day this man dies so I can go and defile his grave.
The Countess is the love of my life. She is proof that one can truly find happiness through an on-line dating site like OKCupid (and that one should not always take such sites too seriously when they say you match up only 60% with someone else).
